Physician Assistant

Josilu Portella, PA-C

Josilu Portella, PA-C is a 2006 graduate of the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Services Physician Assistant Program where she concentrated on care of the surgical patient. She also holds a Masters of Public Health in International Health Promotion from the same university which was conferred in 2002. She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Ms. Portella's main areas of interest are general surgery and breast cancer prevention. As Associate Director of the GWU Mobile Mammography Program, she received grants from the Susan G. Komen Foundation, AVON Foundation and the Cancer Research Foundation of America to promote early breast cancer screening and treatment in the uninsured populations of the Washington metropolitan area. She is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.


Parini Parikh Shah, PA-CParini Parikh Shah, PA-C is a 2003 graduate from Northeastern University with her Bachelors of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience. She then received her Physician Assistant's degree from Howard University in 2006. Her main area of concentration in school was general surgery. She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Currently, Parini is focusing her care on breast diseases, surgical and non-surgical treatment options, and early screening for breast cancer. She is working closely with a breast team to provide the excellence of care to our breast population. She is also a Men's Health network volunteer, helping to advocate early prostate/colon cancer screenings. Parini will also be teaching surgery at Howard University.


Kimber L. Hoyler, PA-CKimber L. Hoyler, PA-C is a 2009 graduate of the George Washington University, School of Medicine and Health Sciences where she received her Master of Science in Health Sciences as a certified Physician Assistant. She also completed additional coursework and electives in Surgical Preparedness. She received her undergraduate degree from the George Mason University, School of Nursing in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the American Association of Surgical Physician Assistants and the Virginia Association of Physician Assistants.

Kimber’s interests include teaching; she is an adjunct professor at a local nursing school focusing on health sciences such as pharmacology, anatomy & physiology and medical ethics. Kimber also volunteers at Sterling Rescue Squad, assisting primarily in the training of new members to the organization.


Brandy Dumas, PA-CBrandy Dumas PA-C is a 2003 graduate of the University of New England School of Medicine’s Physician Assistant Program where she concentrated in surgical subspecialties. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Vermont. Since graduating from the University of New England, she has worked solely in surgical sub-specialties including orthopedic, cardio-thoracic and general surgery in both Maine and Massachusetts. She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Mrs. Dumas has maintained an interest in surgery throughout her career. She is new to the Northern Virginia region and is eager to focus on general surgery and breast cancer prevention.
