Josilu Portella, PA-C.

Ilike to think I inherited my passion for medicine from my father. He was a general surgeon and, as his daughter, I was able to witness first-hand the impact one individual can have in decreasing the scope of human suffering. My father taught me that empathy, professionalism, conscientiousness, creativity, courage and perseverance on behalf of your patients are critical factors in being an effective provider. In my practice as a PA, I strive to live up to those ideals and make him proud. I relish the opportunity to make a positive impact in the care of my patients. I know it begins by recognizing every patient has their own, unique story. My goal every day is to meet each individual’s need and enhance their surgical experience through safe, patient-centered, timely & efficient methods. In doing so, I hope to gain their trust and confidence as we work together toward a positive outcome. The surgical culture is one of continuous improvement. I enjoy using peer review conferences to identify areas of improvement and promote integrity and transparency in assessing and improving patient care. I also like participating in national meetings and enjoy the challenge of improving my dexterity and technical skills by taking part in hands-on workshops.
